AMEA project is included in the activity plan of the European Project OPEN (EU funded), where MUN-SI Portugal is participating. The AMEA Project took place between June 2015 and August 2016 and intended to support families with low socioeconomic income with adolescents above 12 years old. Between January and March, 5 municipalities were selected to participate: Oeiras, Odivelas, Paredes, Figueira da Foz and Águeda. The kickoff reunion was held in CEIDSS office, in March 31st, 2015. The participating families were identified by the municipalities. The program focused on promoting health in adolescents and consisted in community and individual intervention. It provided home visits by a nutritionist who guided the teenagers, in order to plan a health strategy to change their lifestyle.
Nutritional status evaluation, individual counseling for malnutrition, visits to the supermarket for guidance on the acquisition of healthy food according to the family income, healthy cooking workshops with local Chefs and group activities directed to adolescents, including Facebook challenge and activities in schools, were the actions included in these interventions.
